The Piano Keyboard

Playing the soft keyboard

The Pitch Palette recognizes notes played on this keyboard in the same way it reads MIDI information from an external MIDI keyboard. It reads the data as MIDI In and sends it to the MIDI data out to your synth or sound card.

Channel

You can use the left and right spin buttons to select a MIDI channel from one to 16.

Octave

The soft keyboard displays five octaves with the letter "c" on Middle C. You can use the left and right spin buttons to select an additional five octaves. This gives you a range of 121 notes from MIDI Note #0 to MIDI Note #120.

Velocity

You can use the left and right spin buttons to select the velocity of the notes you play on the soft piano keyboard.

Patch

The drop down list of patches show Patch numbers 1 to 128 along with the 128 General MIDI (GM) patch names. If the patches in your synth are not stored according to the GM specification, you can still use this drop down-list to select your patch number. For example, if the Grand Piano patch in your synth is stored as Patch #10, select #10 from the drop-down list and patch change #10 will be sent to your synth.

Repeat sustained

Press the Repeat Sustained button to repeat any notes that have been sustained on the soft piano keyboard.
