The Chord Detector is used by AutoRoot to recognize a chord and automatically change the tuning to the root of the chord. The Chord Detector can also be used to:

Some chords have more than one name. For example, an Am7 uses the same notes as a C6. For this reason, there are four rows on the Chord Detector screen for displaying and editing chords.

It is possible for the same chord to have different Roots in different scales. For example, in a scale where the minor 7 is a 7/4 ratio, you might want to Root a Dm7 as F, whereas in a scale where the minor 7 is a 9/5 ratio, you might prefer to root it in D.
